SOUTHEASE SWING BRIDGE IS CLOSED TO VEHICULAR TRAFFIC

The swing bridge at Southease was unexpectedly closed to vehicular traffic on the evening of the 23rd April 2010. It is understood that the decision to close the bridge ahead of the planned restoration work in June was due to an adverse engineering report on the state of the turntable mechanism.
It should be noted that the bridge is still open to pedestrians, cyclist and equestrian traffic.
